Sharks have inhabited the oceans for over 450 million years. Yes....450 million. It is incomprehensibly cruel and sadistic to haul a living creature out of the ocean, cut its fins off and toss the poor creature back into the water so people can pay BIG MONEY for a bowl of ceremonial soup for their wedding. A tradition that is a "sign of respect" at many Chinese weddings is an anachronistic ritual that is systemically annihilating one of the most ancient creatures on earth and must be stopped. International waters are unregulated. Dried shark fins can fetch up to $300/lb....so harvesting fins is a multi BILLION dollar industry. Just another example of humans as "PRIMATES OUT OF CONTROL" to coin Sea Shepherd captain Paul Watson.
